Membership Renewed, No Suspension: Koepka Immediately Back on PGA Tour

First start already at the Farmers, Vijay Singh wants to give it another go, Charley Hull soon on YouTube. The Back Nine.

As expected, Brooks Koepka has officially opted out of the 2026 LIV Golf season starting on February 7 in Riyadh; the five-time major winner remains connected to the rival circuit but needs more time for his family. This friendly agreement was confirmed by LIV CEO Scott McNeil. Koepka is known as a competitor who thrives in top-level sporting battles, something he lacked in LIV. He initially joined LIV in 2022 fearing an early career end due to injuries and sought a solid retirement fund. So, skipping the final contracted season is not surprising, although questions remain about possible buyouts or paybacks. Will the 35-year-old remain owner of his LIV team Smash GC, which has appointed Talor Gooch as the new captain?

Speculation grows about where Koepka will compete next: the DP World Tour—where he’d be immediately eligible, perhaps with a penalty—or the PGA Tour, where he faces a one-year suspension since his last LIV appearance, after lifetime bans by former commissioner Jay Monahan were softened. Why be vindictive when every LIV returnee benefits the established Tour? This question seems partially answered. According to ESPN’s Mark Schlabach, Koepka formally applied last Friday to reactivate his PGA Tour membership, lapsed since 2022, to be reinstated as a player.
