Koepka Renewed PGA Tour Membership, No Suspension: Immediate Return

First start at Farmers, Vijay Singh returns, Charley Hull to launch YouTube channel. The Back Nine brings golf updates.

As expected, Brooks Koepka has withdrawn from the 2026 LIV Golf season starting February 7 in Riyadh; the five-time major champion remains connected to the rival circuit but needs more family time. This was reportedly agreed upon amicably, according to LIV CEO Scott McNeil’s official statement. However, Koepka is a competitive type who thrives on high-level competition, something he lacked at LIV. He moved to LIV in 2022 mainly due to injuries threatening his career and to secure a substantial retirement fund. Thus, his skipping the final contract year is not surprising, though questions remain about possible buyouts or refunds. Will the 35-year-old remain an owner of LIV’s Smash GC team, which recently appointed Talor Gooch as captain?

Speculation rises on where Koepka will play next: DP World Tour, where he would be eligible immediately, possibly with a penalty? Or the PGA Tour, where he faces a one-year suspension for his last LIV participation after earlier lifetime bans were softened? Why hold grudges when the PGA Tour benefits from LIV returnees, especially top names? ESPN’s Mark Schlabach reports Koepka formally applied last Friday to reactivate his membership and rejoin the PGA Tour player pool.
