Membership Renewed, No Suspension: Koepka Immediately Back on PGA Tour

As expected, Brooks Koepka has withdrawn from the 2026 LIV Golf season starting February 7 in Riyadh; the five-time major winner remains connected to the rival circuit but needs more time for his family. This was reportedly mutually agreed upon, according to official LIV CEO Scott McNeil. Koepka is known as a competitor who thrives in top-level events, which he missed out on in LIV. He joined LIV in 2022 mainly due to injury concerns and to secure a good retirement fund. Skipping the last contract year is not surprising, though questions remain about possible buyouts or partial repayments. He remains the owner of LIV team Smash GC, with Talor Gooch now captain.

Speculation mounts on where Koepka will compete next—DP World Tour, where he would be eligible immediately, likely with a penalty? Or PGA Tour, where he faces a one-year suspension since HIS last LIV event but lifetime suspensions have been softened? Returning players fit well into the PGA Tour’s interests. ESPN’s Mark Schlabach reported Koepka formally applied last Friday to reactivate his PGA Tour membership, which was not extended after 2022.

Any suspension would expire in August, coinciding with the end of the 2026 season at the Tour Championship August 27-30. Koepka would be eligible for 2027, when the PGA Tour launches a new schedule with about two dozen $20 million events and limited fields—the perfect timing for his comeback.
