Membership Renewed, No Suspension: Brooks Koepka Back on PGA Tour

First start already at the Farmers Insurance Open; Vijay Singh returns; Charley Hull launches YouTube channel. The Back Nine.

As expected, Brooks Koepka has withdrawn from the 2026 LIV Golf season starting February 7 in Riyadh; the five-time major champion will remain connected to the rival circuit but needs more time for family. This was amicably agreed according to LIV CEO Scott McNeil’s official statement. Koepka is a competitor who thrives on high-level competition, which he found limited in LIV. He joined LIV in 2022 mainly due to injuries and to secure a solid retirement fund. His skipping the last contractual season comes as no surprise, though questions remain about potential buyouts or salary repayments. He remains owner of his LIV team Smash GC, now captained by Talor Gooch.

Speculation is rife about which tour Koepka will join next. He could play on the DP World Tour immediately, possibly paying a penalty, or on the PGA Tour where a one-year suspension since his last LIV participation applies, after the previous lifetime ban was softened. Why hold grudges when high-profile LIV returnees benefit the PGA? ESPN journalist Mark Schlabach reported Koepka formally applied last Friday to reactivate his PGA Tour membership and rejoin the players’ ranks.
