Membership Renewed, No Suspension: Koepka Back on PGA Tour Immediately

First start already at the Farmers, Vijay Singh eager as well, Charley Hull soon on YouTube. The Back Nine.

As expected, Brooks Koepka has withdrawn from the 2026 LIV Golf season starting February 7 in Riyadh; the five-time major champion will remain connected to the rival circuit but needs more family time. This was mutually agreed upon, according to LIV CEO Scott McNeil’s statement. Koepka, known as a fierce competitor who gets motivated by top-level competition, had limited enthusiasm for LIV. He joined LIV in 2022 mainly because of injury concerns and a desire to secure a solid financial retirement. Thus, skipping the last contractual season is not surprising, though questions remain whether he had to buy out or repay part of his guaranteed salary and if he remains owner of LIV team Smash GC, which recently named Talor Gooch as new captain.

Speculation is rife about where Koepka will next tee off. On the DP World Tour, where eligibility is immediate, possibly with a penalty? Or on the PGA Tour, where he faces a one-year suspension since his last LIV appearance after prior lifetime bans were significantly softened? Why hold grudges when every returning LIV player benefits the established tour? ESPN’s Mark Schlabach reported that last Friday Koepka formally applied to reactivate his PGA Tour membership which was not extended post-2022 and to be reinstated as a player.

Any suspension would expire in August. While the 2026 season concludes with the Tour Championship from August 27–30, Koepka would be eligible for 2027, coinciding with the PGA Tour’s new schedule featuring about two dozen $20 million events with limited top fields—a perfect timing for a comeback.
