Membership Renewed, No Suspension: Koepka Returns to PGA Tour Immediately

It is known that Brooks Koepka has opted out of the 2026 LIV Golf season starting on February 7 in Riyadh; the five-time major winner will stay connected to the rival circuit but needs more time for family, according to LIV CEO Scott McNeil’s official statement. Koepka, a fierce competitor who thrives on top-level competition, had limited motivation at LIV and had initially joined in 2022 partly for financial retirement reasons after injuries. Questions remain if he had to buy out his contract or return part of his guaranteed pay. He remains owner of the LIV team Smash GC, now captained by Talor Gooch.

Speculation continues on which tours Koepka will compete on next: DP World Tour, where he would be eligible immediately possibly with a penalty, or PGA Tour, where he faces a one-year suspension since his last LIV event after previous lifetime bans were softened. According to ESPN journalist Mark Schlabach, Koepka formally applied last Friday to reactivate his PGA Tour membership, which was not renewed after 2022, to return to the playing field.
