Membership Renewed without Suspension: Koepka Returns to PGA Tour Immediately

First start already at the Farmers, Vijay Singh aims for a comeback, Charley Hull soon on YouTube. The Back Nine.

As expected: Brooks Koepka has officially withdrawn from the 2026 LIV Golf season starting February 7 in Riyadh; the five-time major winner will remain connected to the competing circuit but needs more family time. This was agreed amicably, according to LIV CEO Scott McNeil’s official statement. Koepka is a competitor who gets highly motivated and fired up in high-level competitions, something he found limited at LIV. He initially joined LIV in 2022 fearing his career might end due to injuries while securing a good retirement fund. Thus, skipping his last contractual season is unsurprising, though questions remain about possible buyouts or wage refunds. Koepka remains owner of LIV team Smash GC, which named Talor Gooch as its new captain.

Speculation continues about where Koepka will compete next. At the DP World Tour, where immediate eligibility is possible—likely with a penalty—or on the PGA Tour, where he faces a one-year suspension since his last LIV appearance, after previous lifetime bans imposed by former commissioner Jay Monahan were softened. Why be vindictive when every high-profile LIV returnee benefits the stronger tour? This key question seems partly answered. ESPN’s Mark Schlabach reported Koepka formally applied last Friday to reactivate his PGA Tour membership, which was not extended beyond 2022, to rejoin the playing group.
