As expected, Brooks Koepka has withdrawn from the 2026 LIV Golf season starting on February 7 in Riyadh; the five-time major winner remains connected to the competing circuit but needs more family time, according to LIV CEO Scott McNeil’s official statement. Koepka, a competitive athlete who thrives on high-level competition, was less motivated in LIV events. He had joined LIV in 2022 mainly due to injury doubts and to secure a solid retirement fund. The waiver of his last contractual season comes as no surprise, though questions remain about financial arrangements and his ongoing ownership of LIV team Smash GC, now captained by Talor Gooch.
Speculation is rife about where Koepka will play next—possibly the DP World Tour, where he would be eligible immediately, potentially with a penalty payment, or the PGA Tour, where he faces a one-year suspension since his last LIV appearance. Former lifetime bans issued by ex-commissioner Jay Monahan were significantly softened. Per ESPN journalist Mark Schlabach, Koepka formally requested reinstatement to the PGA Tour last Friday.
