Membership Renewed, No Suspension: Koepka Back on the PGA Tour

First start already at the Farmers, Vijay Singh wants to give it another shot, Charley Hull soon on YouTube. The Back Nine.

As expected, Brooks Koepka has officially opted out of the 2026 LIV Golf season starting February 7 in Riyadh; the five-time major winner intends to remain connected to the competing circuit but needs more time for his family. This was reportedly a friendly agreement, according to LIV CEO Scott McNeil’s official statement. However, Koepka is a competitive type who thrives on high-level contests, something he rarely found at LIV. Having joined LIV in 2022 due to injury-affected career concerns and to secure a solid retirement fund, his decision to forgo the last contractual year is unsurprising, though questions remain. Did he have to buy out his contract or refund part of his guaranteed pay? Does he remain an owner of LIV team Smash GC, which recently named Talor Gooch as its new captain?

Speculation mostly centers on which fairways Koepka will appear next. The DP World Tour could grant him immediate playing rights, possibly with a penalty, or the PGA Tour, where he must serve a one-year suspension following his last LIV appearance after lifetime bans imposed by former Commissioner Jay Monahan were significantly reduced. Why be vindictive when every LIV returnee, especially a prominent one, benefits the financially stronger established tour? This key question seems partly answered. ESPN journalist Mark Schlabach reported that last Friday Koepka formally applied to reactivate his PGA Tour membership, which had lapsed after 2022, seeking reinstatement among the players.
