Membership Renewed, No Ban: Koepka Returns Immediately to the PGA Tour

First start already at the Farmers, Vijay Singh eager to compete again, Charley Hull soon on YouTube. The Back Nine.

As expected, Brooks Koepka has withdrawn from the LIV Golf League’s 2026 season, starting February 7 in Riyadh. The five-time major winner will remain connected to the rival circuit but needs more time for his family, according to LIV CEO Scott McNeil’s official statement. Koepka, known as a competitive type who thrives on high-level competition, was less motivated at LIV. He switched to LIV in 2022 mainly due to injury setbacks, seeking a secure retirement fund. His skipping the last contracted season is not surprising but raises questions: Did he have to buy out of his contract or repay part of the guaranteed salary? Does the 35-year-old remain an owner of his LIV team Smash GC, where Talor Gooch is the new captain?

Speculations mount about where Koepka will play next: DP World Tour, where he could be eligible immediately, possibly paying a fine? Or the PGA Tour, where he faces a one-year suspension since his last LIV start, after the lifetime bans imposed by former commissioner Jay Monahan were softened? The PGA Tour appears to be open to prominent LIV returnees, which benefits the Tour itself. ESPN reporter Mark Schlabach reported that Koepka formally applied last Friday to reactivate his PGA Tour membership and rejoin the player group.
