Membership Renewed, No Ban: Koepka Immediately Back on PGA Tour

First start already at the Farmers, Vijay Singh eager to compete again, Charley Hull soon on YouTube. The Back Nine.

As expected, Brooks Koepka has officially opted out of the 2026 LIV Golf season starting February 7 in Riyadh; the five-time major winner remains connected to the rival circuit but needs more time for family, according to LIV CEO Scott McNeil’s friendly agreement statement. Koepka, known as a competitor who thrives on high-level competition, felt less motivated on LIV, having joined in 2022 mainly due to injury concerns and to secure retirement earnings. Questions remain about whether he had to buy out or return part of his guaranteed salary, and whether he remains owner of the LIV team Smash GC, now captained by Talor Gooch.

Speculation is rife about where Koepka will play next—on the DP World Tour, where he would be immediately eligible possibly with a penalty, or on the PGA Tour, where he faces a one-year suspension since his last LIV appearance after previous lifetime bans were softened. According to ESPN journalist Mark Schlabach, Koepka formally applied last Friday to reactivate his PGA Tour membership, which was not renewed after 2022.
