Membership Renewed, No Ban: Koepka Back on the PGA Tour Immediately

First start already at the Farmers, Vijay Singh ready for a comeback, Charley Hull soon on YouTube. The Back Nine.

As expected, Brooks Koepka has withdrawn from the 2026 LIV Golf season starting February 7 in Riyadh; the five-time major winner remains connected to the rival circuit but needs more family time. This was mutually agreed upon, according to LIV CEO Scott McNeil’s official statement. Koepka is a competitive type who thrives in high-level tournaments, something he lacked at LIV. He switched to LIV in 2022 mainly due to injury concerns and to secure a good retirement fund. It is no surprise he opted out of the final contracted season, though questions remain about potential buyouts or repayment of guaranteed money. He remains owner of his LIV team Smash GC, which has appointed Talor Gooch as the new captain.

Speculations abound on which fairways Koepka will appear next: the DP World Tour, where he may be immediately eligible—likely facing a penalty—or the PGA Tour, where he faces a one-year suspension after his last LIV event, following a significant reduction of former lifetime bans by ex-Commissioner Jay Monahan. Why be vindictive when every returning LIV player benefits the stronger PGA Tour? This key question seems partly answered: ESPN journalist Mark Schlabach revealed Koepka formally applied last Friday to reactivate his PGA Tour membership, which was not extended after 2022.
