Membership Renewed, No Ban: Koepka Back on PGA Tour Immediately

First start already at the Farmers, Vijay Singh wants to compete again, Charley Hull launching on YouTube soon. The Back Nine.

As expected, Brooks Koepka has withdrawn from the 2026 LIV Golf season starting February 7 in Riyadh; the five-time major champion will remain connected to the rival circuit but needs more time for family. This was a friendly agreement, according to LIV CEO Scott McNeil. Koepka is known as a competitor who thrives in high-level competitions, something he seldom experienced in LIV. He joined LIV in 2022 mainly due to injury concerns, aiming to secure a comfortable retirement fund. His decision to skip the final contractual season raises questions about whether he had to buy out or repay part of his guarantee and whether he remains owner of his LIV team Smash GC, which appointed Talor Gooch as captain.

Speculation abounds about where Koepka will compete next — the DP World Tour, where he could instantly play, likely with a penalty, or the PGA Tour, where he faces a one-year suspension after his last LIV event, though initial lifetime bans have been eased. This key question seems partly answered: ESPN journalist Mark Schlabach reported Koepka formally applied last Friday to reactivate his PGA Tour membership, which had not been extended after 2022, and to be reinstated as a player.

His suspension would expire in August, coinciding with the end of the 2026 season at the Tour Championship August 27-30. Koepka would be eligible for 2027, aligning with the PGA Tour’s new schedule featuring about two dozen $20-million events with limited fields. The timing suits Koepka’s style, and investors at PGA Tour Enterprises would welcome another marquee name.

Jon Rahm recently said on the \”Subpar\” podcast: \”He might need some time, but I think he’ll return to the PGA Tour. He’ll probably play at least the minimum, and why not the tournaments he likes, the big ones. If he qualifies or gets in, he’ll play those too.\” The suspension decision involves the board, player directors, and the Tiger Woods-led competition committee, which reportedly follows Rory McIlroy’s recommendation to let Koepka play immediately.

Update: The news spread rapidly Monday evening that Koepka is immediately eligible to play on the PGA Tour and will tee off at the Farmers Insurance Open late January at Tor
