Membership Renewed, No Ban: Koepka Back on PGA Tour Immediately

First start at the Farmers, Vijay Singh aims for a comeback, and Charley Hull soon on YouTube. The Back Nine.

Expectedly, Brooks Koepka has opted out of the 2026 LIV Golf season starting February 7 in Riyadh; the five-time major champion remains connected to the rival circuit but needs more family time. This was reportedly agreed upon amicably, according to LIV CEO Scott McNeil’s official statement. Koepka is a competitor who thrives on elite competition, something he had limited motivation for at LIV. Having switched in 2022 due to injury concerns about his career’s end and to secure retirement funds, it’s unsurprising he skipped the contractually final season, though questions remain about potential buyouts or salary repayments. He still owns his LIV team Smash GC, which recently named Talor Gooch as captain.

Speculation revolves around where Koepka will compete next: the DP World Tour, where he could play immediately, possibly with penalties; or the PGA Tour, where he would serve a one-year suspension since his last LIV event, after former commissioner Jay Monahan’s lifetime bans were softened. This pivotal question now has partial answers. ESPN journalist Mark Schlabach reported that Koepka formally applied last Friday to reactivate his PGA Tour membership, dormant since 2022, seeking reinstatement.
