Membership Renewed, No Ban: Koepka Returns to the PGA Tour Immediately

First start at the Farmers, Vijay Singh wants to compete again, Charley Hull coming soon on YouTube. The Back Nine.

As expected, Brooks Koepka has officially withdrawn from the 2026 LIV Golf season starting February 7 in Riyadh; the five-time major winner remains connected to the competing circuit but needs more time for his family. This was amicably agreed upon, according to LIV CEO Scott McNeil’s official statement. Koepka is a competitive type who gets motivated and fired up by top-level competition, which he rarely experienced at LIV. He switched to LIV in 2022 mainly because of injuries that made him fear his career was ending and to secure a solid retirement fund. So his waiver of the final contract season is not surprising, though questions remain. Did he buy himself out or return part of his guaranteed pay? Is the 35-year-old still owner of his LIV team Smash GC, which recently appointed Talor Gooch as the new captain?

Speculations abound about which fairways Koepka will appear on next. On the DP World Tour, where he would be immediately eligible to play—likely facing a fine? Or on the PGA Tour, where he faces a one-year suspension since his last LIV appearance, after previous lifetime bans were significantly softened by former Commissioner Jay Monahan? Why be vindictive when every LIV returnee, especially a high-profile one, benefits the already more powerful PGA Tour? This key question appears partially answered. According to ESPN journalist Mark Schlabach, Koepka formally applied last Friday to reactivate his PGA Tour membership, which he did not renew after 2022, seeking reinstatement among the players.
