As expected, Brooks Koepka has withdrawn from the 2026 LIV Golf season starting February 7 in Riyadh; the five-time major winner remains connected to the rival circuit but needs more time for family. LIV CEO Scott McNeil officially stated this was an amicable agreement. However, Koepka, a competitor who thrives on high-level competition, showed limited motivation at LIV. He initially joined LIV in 2022 due to injury concerns and to secure a retirement fund. His skipping the final contracted season is not surprising, though questions remain about financial terms and his ownership status in LIV’s Smash GC team, now captained by Talor Gooch.
Speculation focuses on Koepka’s future fairways: DP World Tour where he could play immediately, possibly with penalties, or PGA Tour where he faces a one-year suspension after his last LIV event, though original lifetime bans were softened. Notably, Koepka formally applied last Friday to reactivate his PGA Tour membership and rejoin the players’ pool, according to ESPN’s Mark Schlabach.
