Membership Renewed, No Ban: Koepka Back on PGA Tour Immediately

First start already at the Farmers, Vijay Singh wants to try again, Charley Hull soon on YouTube. The Back Nine.

As expected: Brooks Koepka has officially withdrawn from the 2026 LIV Golf season beginning February 7 in Riyadh; the five-time major winner will stay connected to the competing circuit but needs more time for family. This was reportedly agreed upon amicably, according to LIV CEO Scott McNeil’s official statement. But Koepka is a competitive type, motivated and fired up mainly by high-level competition, something he rarely found in LIV. He mainly joined LIV in 2022 as he thought his career was ending due to injury and sought a solid retirement payout for his personal pension fund. Therefore, his choice to skip the final contractual season is unsurprising, though questions remain. Did he buy out of his contract, repay part of his guaranteed salary? Does the 35-year-old remain an owner of LIV team Smash GC, which has already named Talor Gooch as captain?

Most speculation concerns which fairways Koepka will appear on next. The DP World Tour would grant him immediate playing eligibility, likely with a penalty payment. Or the PGA Tour, where he faces a one-year suspension following his last LIV event, after former Commissioner Jay Monahan reduced lifetime bans significantly. Why hold grudges when every returning LIV player, especially a prominent one, benefits the better-positioned Tour? This question seems partly answered. According to ESPN journalist Mark Schlabach, Koepka formally applied last Friday to reactivate his previously not-extended PGA Tour membership post-2022 and be readmitted as a player.
