As expected, Brooks Koepka has withdrawn from the 2026 LIV Golf season starting February 7 in Riyadh; the five-time major winner will remain connected to the competing circuit but needs more time for his family. This was reportedly agreed upon amicably, according to LIV CEO Scott McNeil’s official statement. Koepka, a competitor who thrives on high-level contests, found limited motivation at LIV. Having joined LIV in 2022 mainly due to injury concerns and to secure a comfortable retirement fund, his skipping the final contracted season is unsurprising, though questions remain about possible buyouts or repayments. He remains the owner of LIV team Smash GC, which recently appointed Talor Gooch as captain.
Speculation continues about which tours Koepka will compete on next. He is eligible to play on the DP World Tour immediately—possibly after paying a penalty—or return to the PGA Tour, where he faces a one-year suspension following his last LIV appearance. Given the easing of lifetime bans by former Commissioner Jay Monahan, many see a reconciliation. According to ESPN journalist Mark Schlabach, Koepka formally applied last Friday to reactivate his PGA Tour membership and be reinstated as a player.
