As expected, Brooks Koepka has withdrawn from the 2026 LIV Golf season beginning February 7 in Riyadh; the five-time major champion will remain connected to the competing circuit but needs more family time. LIV CEO Scott McNeil confirmed this amicable agreement. Koepka is a competitor who thrives on top-level competition, something he found limited on LIV. He originally joined LIV in 2022, anticipating an early end to his career due to injury and to secure a retirement fund. His decision not to play the final contracted season raises questions though – did he buy out, repay part of his guarantee? Does he remain part-owner of LIV team Smash GC, which named Talor Gooch captain?
Speculation grows on which tours Koepka will appear next. He is immediately eligible for the DP World Tour, probably with a penalty, or the PGA Tour where he faces a one-year suspension since his last LIV event. This suspension was softened from a lifetime ban. Returning LIV players, especially prominent ones, benefit the longer-established tours. According to ESPN’s Mark Schlabach, Koepka formally applied last Friday to reactivate his dormant PGA Tour membership and rejoin the player pool.
