Membership Renewed, No Ban: Koepka Back on the PGA Tour Immediately

First start already at the Farmers, Vijay Singh wants to compete again, Charley Hull soon on YouTube. The Back Nine.

Expected: Brooks Koepka has officially withdrawn from the LIV Golf League for the 2026 season, which begins on February 7 in Riyadh; the five-time major winner intends to remain connected to the competing circuit but needs more time for family. This was reportedly agreed upon amicably, according to LIV CEO Scott McNeil’s official statement. Koepka is known as a competitor who thrives on high-level tournaments, something he found limited at LIV. He initially joined LIV in 2022 mainly due to injuries threatening to end his career early and to secure a solid retirement fund. Thus, skipping his final contracted playing season is not surprising, although questions remain about financial settlements and whether he retains ownership of his LIV team Smash GC, which recently appointed Talor Gooch as captain.

Speculation abounds concerning which fairways Koepka will soon appear on—whether the DP World Tour, where he would be eligible immediately, possibly with a penalty, or the PGA Tour, where he must serve a one-year suspension following his last LIV appearance after lifetime bans were significantly softened by former Commissioner Jay Monahan. It would seem counterproductive to retaliate against prominent LIV returnees, as it ultimately benefits the dominant PGA Tour. This key question seems partly answered: According to ESPN journalist Mark Schlabach, Koepka formally applied last Friday to reactivate his PGA Tour membership, which lapsed after 2022, and to be reinstated as a player.
