Membership Renewed, No Ban: Koepka Back on the PGA Tour

First start already at the Farmers, Vijay Singh wants to give it another go, Charley Hull soon on YouTube. The Back Nine.

As expected, Brooks Koepka has officially opted out of the 2026 LIV Golf season starting February 7 in Riyadh; the five-time major winner remains connected to the rival circuit but needs more family time, according to LIV CEO Scott McNeil’s official statement. Koepka is known as a competitor who thrives on top-level competition, which he found lacking at LIV. He joined LIV in 2022 mainly for financial security after injury concerns. Questions remain about whether he had to buy out his contract or repay guarantees. He still owns the LIV team Smash GC, with Talor Gooch as the new captain.

Speculation is rife about where Koepka will play next. He would be immediately eligible for the DP World Tour, likely with a penalty, or the PGA Tour, where he must serve a one-year suspension since his last LIV event after lifetime bans were relaxed. Koepka has formally applied to reinstate his PGA Tour membership, according to ESPN’s Mark Schlabach.

Any suspension would end in August, coinciding with the end of the 2026 season but allowing Koepka to compete in 2027 when the PGA Tour introduces a new schedule with fewer, well-curated $20 million events. This timing suits Koepka perfectly. Jon Rahm recently said on the \”Subpar\” podcast that Koepka is likely to return, at least playing his preferred big events. The PGA Tour competition committee, led by Tiger Woods, and player directors with Rory McIlroy’s backing, are said to support his return. Fan surveys show majority support as well.

Update: Koepka is immediately eligible again on the PGA Tour and will compete at the Farmers Insurance Open in late January and the WGC-Dell Technologies Phoenix Open in Arizona. This is thanks to a new \”Returning Member Program\” allowing select LIV players to resume PGA membership without suspension.
