After the comebacks of Brooks Koepka and Patrick Reed on the PGA Tour, debate reignites over YouTube golf star Wesley Bryan’s suspension.
Ten months ago, PGA Tour professional and YouTube star Wesley Bryan was indefinitely suspended by the PGA Tour. The reason was his participation in an LIV Golf creator event, the ‘LIV Duels’, which is a rival event to the PGA Tour’s Creator Classic. Following the returns of Brooks Koepka and Patrick Reed, Bryan had hoped to rejoin the world’s largest golf tour for the new season.
No Probation Opportunity Yet for Wesley Bryan
However, Bryan will not receive that chance at this time. ‘Unfortunately, Brooks Koepka’s return to the tour has no bearing on my situation,’ Bryan said on X. ‘I requested a conversation to potentially lift my suspension, but I was told no such meeting would occur.’ Many fans and observers are confused by the situation, as Bryan never officially played for LIV Golf, unlike other players who were granted approval. Instead, he participated in a 9-hole scramble YouTube event held in cooperation with LIV Golf, which many consider a different circumstance.
One-Year Suspension for Returnees
Besides Bryan, Koepka, and Reed, other previously suspended players may also return to the PGA Tour in the future. Kevin Na, Pat Perez, and Hudson Swafford are coming back from their time at LIV Golf on American soil but must wait for their debuts compared to Reed and Koepka. Players not meeting the ‘Returning Member Program’ criteria can only start next season. Perez and Swafford have officially regained their PGA memberships but may only compete from 2027 onward.
It is speculated that a similar option could be available for Wesley Bryan once it has been over a year since the ‘LIV Duels’ participation. Whether the PGA Tour will offer this to the one-time tour winner remains to be seen.
Appreciate all the support recently! Unfortunately, Brooks Koepka coming back to the tour has no bearing on my situation. I have reached out and asked for a conversation to potentially uplift my suspension, and I have been told that no such conversation will be given….
