YouTube Star Wesley Bryan Still Suspended Despite LIV Players Returning

Following the returns of Brooks Koepka and Patrick Reed to the PGA Tour, debate reignites over YouTube golf star Wesley Bryan’s suspension.

Ten months ago, PGA Tour professional and YouTube star Wesley Bryan was indefinitely suspended by the PGA Tour due to his participation in a LIV Golf Creator Event, the “LIV Duels,” which is a rival event to the PGA Tour’s Creator Classic. With the comebacks of Brooks Koepka and Patrick Reed, Bryan had hoped to return to the world’s biggest golf tour for the new season.

No Reprieve Yet for Wesley Bryan

However, at this time, Wesley Bryan will not receive that opportunity. “Unfortunately, Brooks Koepka’s return to the Tour has no bearing on my situation,” Bryan announced on X. “I have requested a conversation to potentially lift my suspension, but I was informed that no such discussion will take place.” Many fans and observers are confused by the situation, particularly since Bryan never officially played for LIV Golf like other players who have been granted permission to return. Instead, he participated in a 9-hole scramble YouTube event held in cooperation with LIV Golf, which many see as not equivalent.

One-Year Suspension for Returnees

Besides Bryan, Koepka, and Reed, there are other cases where previously suspended players may return to the PGA Tour in the future. Kevin Na, Pat Perez, and Hudson Swafford are returning from their time with LIV Golf on American soil but, unlike Reed and Koepka, they must wait to debut. Players who do not meet the “Returning Member Program” criteria can only start participating in the following season. Perez and Swafford have officially regained their PGA membership but are not eligible to compete in tournaments before 2027.

There is speculation that this option might become available for Wesley Bryan in the future, provided his participation in the “LIV Duels” was over a year ago. Whether the PGA Tour will offer this opportunity to the one-time tour winner remains to be seen.
