After the comebacks of Brooks Koepka and Patrick Reed on the PGA Tour, debate reignites over the suspension of YouTube golf star Wesley Bryan.
Ten months ago, PGA Tour professional and YouTube star Wesley Bryan was indefinitely suspended by the PGA Tour due to his participation in a LIV Golf creator event, the “LIV Duels,” which served as a competitor to the PGA Tour’s Creator Classic. With the recent returns of Brooks Koepka and Patrick Reed, Bryan had hoped to rejoin the world’s premier golf tour for the new season.
No Probation Opportunity for Wesley Bryan Yet
However, Bryan will not be given this chance at present. “Unfortunately, Brooks Koepka’s return to the tour has no bearing on my situation,” Bryan announced on X. “I requested a conversation to potentially lift my suspension, but I was informed that no such meeting will take place.” Many fans and observers express confusion since Bryan, unlike others who received approval, never officially played for LIV Golf. Instead, he took part in a 9-hole scramble YouTube event held in cooperation with LIV Golf, and many see these situations as not comparable.
One-Year Suspension for Returnees
Besides Bryan, Koepka, and Reed, other previously suspended players like Kevin Na, Pat Perez, and Hudson Swafford are set to return to the PGA Tour after their time with LIV Golf. However, unlike Reed and Koepka, they must wait for their debut, as players not meeting the “Returning Member Program” criteria can only compete starting next season. Perez and Swafford have officially regained their PGA membership but are eligible to compete only from 2027 onwards.
Speculation exists that a similar option may become available for Wesley Bryan if more than a year has passed since his participation in the “LIV Duels.” Whether the PGA Tour will offer this to the one-time Tour winner remains to be seen.
Appreciate all the support recently! Unfortunately, Brooks Koepka coming back to the tour has no bearing on my situation. I have reached out and asked for a conversation to potentially uplift my suspension, and I have been told that no such conversation will be given….
