Following the comebacks of Brooks Koepka and Patrick Reed on the PGA Tour, debate reignites over YouTube golf star Wesley Bryan’s suspension.
Ten months ago, PGA Tour pro and YouTube star Wesley Bryan was indefinitely suspended by the PGA Tour after participating in a LIV Golf Creator Event, the “LIV Duels”, a rival event to the PGA Tour’s Creator Classic. With the returns of Brooks Koepka and Patrick Reed, Bryan had hoped to rejoin the world’s biggest golf tour for the new season.
No Probation Chance Yet for Wesley Bryan
However, Bryan will not get that chance at this time. “Unfortunately, Brooks Koepka’s return to the tour has no bearing on my situation,” Bryan said on X. “I requested a meeting to possibly lift my suspension but was told no such conversation would take place.” Many fans are confused as Bryan, unlike some others allowed back, never officially played for LIV Golf but took part in a 9-hole scramble YouTube event in cooperation with LIV Golf, which many see as different situations.
One-Year Suspension for Returnees
Besides Bryan, players like Koepka, Reed, Kevin Na, Pat Perez, and Hudson Swafford are involved in similar cases regarding return to the PGA Tour. Na, Perez, and Swafford are returning to American soil but must wait before debuting compared to Reed and Koepka. Players who do not meet the “Returning Member Program” criteria can only compete starting next season. Perez and Swafford have officially regained PGA membership but may only play in tournaments from 2027 onwards.
Speculation exists that Bryan might have this option after a year from participating in the “LIV Duels”, but whether the PGA Tour will offer this to the one-time tour winner remains uncertain.
Appreciate all the support recently! Unfortunately, Brooks Koepka coming back to the tour has no bearing on my situation. I have reached out and asked for a conversation to potentially uplift my suspension, and I have been told that no such conversation will be given….
