After the comebacks of Brooks Koepka and Patrick Reed on the PGA Tour, debate reignites over YouTube golf star Wesley Bryan’s suspension.
Ten months ago, PGA Tour pro and YouTube star Wesley Bryan was indefinitely suspended by the PGA Tour. The reason was his participation in a LIV Golf creator event, the “LIV Duels,” which is a competing event to the PGA Tour’s Creator Classic. With Brooks Koepka and Patrick Reed returning, Bryan had hoped to rejoin the world’s biggest golf tour for the new season.
No Probation Opportunity Yet for Wesley Bryan
However, Bryan currently has no chance for return. “Unfortunately, Brooks Koepka’s comeback has no bearing on my situation,” Bryan announced on X. “I have requested a conversation to possibly lift my suspension, but I have been told no such meeting will take place.” Many fans and outsiders are puzzled since Bryan has never officially played for LIV Golf like some others who have received clearance. Instead, he took part in a 9-hole scramble YouTube event held in cooperation with LIV Golf, which many view as a different situation.
One-Year Suspension for Returning Players
Besides Bryan, Koepka, and Reed, other formerly suspended players like Kevin Na, Pat Perez, and Hudson Swafford are set to return to the PGA Tour after their time at LIV Golf. However, unlike Reed and Koepka, Perez and Swafford must wait before debuting as they don’t meet the “Returning Member Program” criteria. They have regained PGA membership but can only compete from 2027 onwards.
Speculation exists that a similar opportunity could be offered to Wesley Bryan in the future if more than a year passes since his participation in the “LIV Duels.” Whether the PGA Tour will grant this to the one-time tour winner remains to be seen.
Appreciate all the support recently! Unfortunately, Brooks Koepka coming back to the tour has no bearing on my situation. I have reached out and asked for a conversation to potentially uplift my suspension, and I have been told that no such conversation will be given….
