Despite LIV Returnees, YouTube Star Wesley Bryan Remains Suspended from PGA Tour

After the comebacks of Brooks Koepka and Patrick Reed on the PGA Tour, debate reignites over YouTube golf star Wesley Bryan’s suspension.

Ten months ago, PGA Tour professional and YouTube star Wesley Bryan was indefinitely suspended by the PGA Tour due to his participation in a LIV Golf creator event called the “LIV Duels,” a rival event to the PGA Tour’s Creator Classic. With the recent returns of Brooks Koepka and Patrick Reed, Bryan had hoped to rejoin the world’s biggest golf tour in the upcoming season.

No Probation Chance for Wesley Bryan

At this time, Wesley Bryan will not be given that chance. “Unfortunately, Brooks Koepka’s return to the tour has no bearing on my situation,” Bryan stated on X. “I requested a conversation to possibly lift my suspension, but was informed that no such meeting would take place.” Many fans and observers are confused by this, as Bryan never officially played for LIV Golf but took part in the 9-hole Scramble YouTube event held in cooperation with LIV Golf. For many, these situations are not equivalent.

One-Year Suspension for Returnees

There are other cases besides Bryan, Koepka, and Reed where previously suspended players may return to the PGA Tour in the future. Kevin Na, Pat Perez, and Hudson Swafford are returning to American soil after their time with LIV Golf but, unlike Reed and Koepka, they must wait to make their debut. Players who do not meet the criteria of the “Returning Member Program” can only start in the following season. Perez and Swafford have already regained their PGA membership but are only allowed to compete in tournaments from 2027 onwards.

It is speculated that this option might also be possible for Wesley Bryan if more than a year has passed since his participation in the “LIV Duels.” Whether the PGA Tour will offer this option to the one-time tour winner remains to be seen.
