After the comebacks of Brooks Koepka and Patrick Reed on the PGA Tour, debate reignites over YouTube golf star Wesley Bryan’s suspension.
Ten months ago, PGA Tour pro and YouTube star Wesley Bryan was indefinitely suspended by the PGA Tour. The reason was his participation in a LIV Golf creator event, the “LIV Duels”, a competing event to the PGA Tour’s Creator Classic. With the recent returns of Koepka and Reed, Bryan hoped to rejoin the world’s biggest golf tour this season.
No Probation Chance for Wesley Bryan Yet
However, Bryan does not currently have that opportunity. “Unfortunately, Brooks Koepka’s return to the tour has no bearing on my situation,” Bryan announced on X. “I requested a conversation to potentially lift my suspension, but was told no such discussion will take place.” Many fans are puzzled by the situation, as Bryan never officially played for LIV Golf but only participated in the 9-hole scramble YouTube event held in cooperation with LIV Golf, which many argue should not be equated.
One-Year Suspension for Returning Players
Besides Bryan, other previously suspended players like Kevin Na, Pat Perez, and Hudson Swafford are set to return to the PGA Tour after their time with LIV Golf. However, unlike Reed and Koepka, they must wait to make their debut because those not meeting the “Returning Member Program” criteria can only start in the next season. Perez and Swafford have officially regained PGA membership but may only compete starting in 2027.
There is speculation that Bryan might be offered the same option in the future once more than a year has passed since his participation in the “LIV Duels.” Whether the PGA Tour will grant this to the one-time tour winner remains to be seen.
Appreciate all the support recently! Unfortunately, Brooks Koepka coming back to the tour has no bearing on my situation. I have reached out and asked for a conversation to potentially uplift my suspension, and I have been told that no such conversation will be given….
