After Brooks Koepka and Patrick Reed’s PGA Tour comebacks, debate reignites over YouTube golf star Wesley Bryan’s suspension.
Ten months ago, PGA Tour pro and YouTube star Wesley Bryan was indefinitely suspended from the PGA Tour. The suspension followed his participation in the LIV Golf Creator Event, “LIV Duels,” a competing event against the PGA Tour’s Creator Classic. With Koepka and Reed returning, Bryan had hoped to rejoin the world’s biggest golf tour for the new season.
No Chance for Wesley Bryan’s Return Yet
However, Bryan is not granted a return opportunity at this time. “Unfortunately, Brooks Koepka coming back to the tour has no bearing on my situation,” Bryan stated on X. “I requested a meeting to possibly lift my suspension, but was informed that no such meeting would take place.” Fans and observers express confusion since Bryan never officially played for LIV Golf like others who have been cleared. Instead, he participated in the 9-hole scramble YouTube event held in collaboration with LIV Golf, a situation many do not see as equivalent.
One-Year Suspension for Returnees
Besides Bryan, other previously suspended players like Kevin Na, Pat Perez, and Hudson Swafford are scheduled to return to the PGA Tour after their stints with LIV Golf, though some must wait to debut compared to Reed and Koepka. Players not meeting the “Returning Member Program” criteria can only compete in the following season. Perez and Swafford have regained PGA membership but can only compete starting in 2027.
Speculation exists that Bryan may have a similar option after a year has passed since the LIV Duels participation. Whether the PGA Tour will extend this opportunity to the one-time tour winner remains uncertain.
Appreciate all the support recently! Unfortunately, Brooks Koepka coming back to the tour has no bearing on my situation. I have reached out and asked for a conversation to potentially uplift my suspension, and I have been told that no such conversation will be given….
