Several German-speaking pros compete for three spots in the LIV Golf League during the promotions event in Florida.
From January 8 to 11, the LIV Golf Promotions in Lecanto, Florida, bring together nearly 90 players from 24 countries — all striving for one of three wild-card spots for the LIV Golf League 2026. The path to qualification is four rounds of stroke play, with cuts after each round and new chances daily. Those who reach the weekend will compete for a total prize fund of 1.5 million US dollars and a place in the global LIV Golf circuit. Ultimately, three spots for the LIV Golf League 2026 are awarded, including guaranteed starts at all 13 events. Ten more players will secure starting rights for the International Series.
LIV Golf Opens the Door – Who Will Seize Entry into the League?
The high-caliber field includes tour winners, former LIV players, and newcomers. For some, it’s a comeback opportunity; for others, a chance to break through. Among them, five German-speaking participants see the event as a genuine opportunity and possibly the start of a new chapter.
Max Kieffer Eyes the Next Chapter
For Max Kieffer, this event may be the most important since his 2022 DP World Tour win. After 13 years in Europe’s top tier, he lost his tour card. His 2025 season went off plan, with a fall in rankings and missed Q-School. Now, LIV Golf could be the next step. The Düsseldorf native brings experience and determination, asserting, “We’re not done yet.” Florida will reveal how far his return journey goes.
Other players like Dominic Foos, who won an Asian Tour event in 2025, see the Promotions as a springboard. Nick Bachem, despite injuries and setbacks in 2025, aims to prove he can still compete at top level. Matthias Schwab, after missing the Q-School final round, seeks a new path through LIV Golf. Maximilian Rottluff approaches the event with a unique perspective, having qualified last year for the Asian Tour’s International Series via this very tournament.
Famous Names and Open Chapters at LIV Golf
The international field boasts many renowned names from global professional golf, including Ryder Cup player Chris Wood (England), five-time DP World Tour winner Alex Levy (France), and top-three International Series player in 2025 Miguel Tabuena (Philippines). Also participating are Pablo Ereno (Spain), formerly in the top ten of the amateur world rankings, Christopher Wood (Australia), current leader of the PGA Tour of Australasia, and former LIV Golf players like Anthony Kim, Matt Jones, and Ben Campbell, all seeking to qualify again for the 2026 season through the Promotions series.
