Several German-speaking pros compete in Florida for three spots in the 2026 LIV Golf League.
From January 8 to 11, it gets serious in Lecanto, Florida. The LIV Golf Promotions gather nearly 90 players from 24 countries, all aiming for one of three wild-card spots for the 2026 LIV Golf League. The path leads over four stroke-play rounds, with a new cut each day and fresh chances daily. Those who make it to the weekend compete for a total prize purse of 1.5 million USD and a place in the global LIV Golf circuit. At the end, three spots for the 2026 LIV Golf League come with guaranteed starts in all 13 events. Ten others secure starting rights for the International Series.
LIV Golf Opens the Door – Who Will Take the Leap?
Whether tour winners, former LIV players, or newcomers, a highly qualified field is assembled. For some, it’s about a comeback; for others, a big breakthrough. Among them, five German-speaking participants see the event as a genuine opportunity and possibly the start of a new chapter.
Max Kieffer Ahead of the Next Chapter
For Max Kieffer, this event may be his most important appearance since winning on the DP World Tour in 2022. After 13 years in European top-tier golf, he lost his tour card. The 2025 season didn’t go as planned. Kieffer dropped in rankings and missed Q-School. Now, LIV Golf is the path. The Düsseldorf native brings experience and a clear mindset that the journey is not over: “We’re not done yet,” he recently stated. Florida will show how far back the path really is.
Foos, Bachem, Rottluff, Schwab: Each with Their Own Story
A different approach but a similar goal: Dominic Foos made a mark in 2025 with a tournament win on the Asian Tour. Consistent play and international experience paved his way to the promotions. Now he wants more. For the 28-year-old, a jump into the LIV Golf League would be not only a sporting advance but also a catapult into the tour’s spotlight.
For Nick Bachem, 2025 ended bitterly: injury, a form crisis, last at Q-School—the year did not go as planned. But those who know the 26-year-old know he doesn’t give up easily. Bachem has already proven he can win at top level. Similarly for Matthias Schwab: the Austrian missed the final round of Q-School and thus any realistic chance at a tour card. After years on the PGA and DP World Tours, he’s now seeking a new path—LIV Golf might offer it. Maximilian Rottluff brings his own perspective to the LIV Golf Promotions. The 32-year-old qualified last year via this very tournament for the Asian Tour’s International Series.
