As the original became a cult classic over time, the moment was ripe for a reboot. The wait was rewarded, as the film turned out to be one of Netflix’s most successful releases of the year, according to Josh Carpenter from the Sports Business Journal.
Record-Breaking Streaming Numbers for Happy Gilmore 2
The film set a Netflix record on its opening weekend with nearly 47 million streamed minutes and was viewed for over 6.2 billion minutes throughout the year while consistently ranking in Netflix’s weekly top 10 lists. It topped the global top 10 list for two weeks and stayed within the worldwide top 10 for a total of five weeks.

Out of 39 films released by Netflix this year, Happy Gilmore 2 ranks second, only behind “KPop Demon Hunters,” which reached over 17 billion minutes streamed.
