KPop Demon Hunters was the most viewed film on Netflix in 2025. A golf film follows in second place.
Fans waited 30 years for the sequel, and last year it finally arrived: Happy Gilmore 2 premiered on Netflix, starring Adam Sandler with numerous star appearances. As the original became a cult classic over the years, it was time for a reboot. The wait was worthwhile, as the film became one of the most successful Netflix movies of the year, according to Josh Carpenter from Sports Business Journal.
Record-Breaking Netflix Performance
The film set a Netflix record on its opening weekend with nearly 47 million streamed minutes and was watched for more than 6.2 billion minutes throughout the year while remaining in Netflix’s weekly top 10. It topped the global top 10 list for two weeks and stayed in the worldwide top 10 for a total of five weeks.
Global Ranking Among 2025 Releases
Out of 39 films released by Netflix this year, Happy Gilmore 2 ranks second, trailing only behind “KPop Demon Hunters,” which achieved more than 17 billion minutes viewed.
