KPop Demon Hunters was 2025’s most-watched Netflix film. The second place goes to a golf movie.
Fans waited 30 years for a sequel, and last year it finally arrived: Happy Gilmore 2 premiered on Netflix, starring Adam Sandler and featuring numerous star appearances. As the original grew into a cult classic over the years, the time was ripe for a reboot. And the wait paid off, as the film became one of the most successful Netflix movies of the year, reports Josh Carpenter in the Sports Business Journal.
Record-Breaking Streaming Numbers
The film set a Netflix record on its opening weekend with nearly 47 million streaming minutes and was viewed for over 6.2 billion minutes throughout the year while staying in Netflix’s weekly Top 10. It topped the global Top 10 list for two weeks and remained in the worldwide Top 10 for a total of five weeks.
Happy Gilmore 2: A Global Netflix Success
Out of 39 films Netflix released this year, Happy Gilmore 2 ranked second, just behind “KPop Demon Hunters,” which reached over 17 billion minutes viewed.
