Fans had waited 30 years for the sequel, and last year Happy Gilmore 2 finally premiered on Netflix, starring Adam Sandler and featuring numerous star appearances. After the original became a cult film over the years, the time was right for a revival. The wait paid off, as the film became one of Netflix’s most successful movies of the year, according to Josh Carpenter in the Sports Business Journal.
Record-Breaking Streaming Numbers for Happy Gilmore 2
The film set a Netflix record with nearly 47 million minutes streamed in its opening weekend and was watched for more than 6.2 billion minutes over the year while consistently ranking in Netflix’s weekly Top 10. It topped the global Top 10 list for two weeks and remained in the worldwide Top 10 for a total of five weeks.

Out of 39 films Netflix released in 2025, Happy Gilmore 2 ranked second, only behind “KPop Demon Hunters,” which reached over 17 billion minutes viewed.
