KPop Demon Hunters was the most-watched Netflix film in 2025. Coming in second is a golf movie.
Fans waited 30 years for the sequel, and last year it finally arrived: Happy Gilmore 2 premiered on Netflix, starring Adam Sandler with numerous celebrity appearances. After the original became a cult classic over the years, the time was right for a remake, and the wait was rewarded as the film became one of the most successful Netflix movies of the year, according to Josh Carpenter in the Sports Business Journal.
Record-Breaking Netflix Premiere
The film set a Netflix record on its opening weekend with nearly 47 million streamed minutes and throughout the year was watched for more than 6.2 billion minutes, staying in Netflix’s weekly Top 10 lists. It topped the global Top 10 charts for two weeks and remained in the worldwide Top 10 for a total of five weeks.
Ranking Among Netflix Releases in 2025
Out of 39 films Netflix released this year, Happy Gilmore 2 ranks second, only behind ‘KPop Demon Hunters,’ which amassed over 17 billion minutes of watch time.
