From seasoned pros to rookies, the German-speaking golf scene shone on all levels this year. The 2025 golf year in review.
What began in 1985 with the Green Jacket ended in 2025 with standing ovations on the 18th fairway. Bernhard Langer’s last appearance at Augusta was the emotional highlight of a golf year rich with German stories—from victories in Macao, London, and Gut Altentann, to emerging talents in Munich and experienced champions in North Carolina.
A Final Start at the Masters
Few moments defined the 2025 German golf year like Bernhard Langer’s last Masters appearance at Augusta. After 41 participations, two Green Jackets, and countless rounds, the 67-year-old bid farewell to the place that made him famous. The crowd rose, applauding him across each fairway. Though his final round did not lead him into the weekend, it was an emotional goodbye on the 18th green. Langer, caddied by his son Jason, parted from a course that shaped him and that he helped shape.
German Success Across Tours
However, the last chapter was not yet written in sport. Months later, Langer showcased his competitiveness by winning the WINSTONgolf Senior Open with a tournament record 21 under par. Shortly after, Alex Cejka claimed his first title in two years at the SAS Championship in the USA, reinforcing his presence in the top 15 of the Schwab Cup rankings.
Meanwhile, rising star Nicolai von Dellingshausen secured his first major victory on the DP World Tour at the Austrian Alpine Open, joined on the podium by Marcel Schneider and Marcel Siem delivering one of his best final rounds. This marked one of the most successful weekends for German golf on the European Tour, with three Germans finishing among the top five.
Laura Fünfstück celebrated her maiden win at the PIF London Championship after more than 100 starts, overcoming an early final round setback to clinch victory with a decisive birdie on the 18th. Olivia Cowan complemented the strong German performance with a tie for fourth place.
New Talents and Global Wins
At the BMW International Open, 20-year-old amateur Tim Wiedemeyer made a statement with a 66 on Friday to reach the top 15, impressing among established pros such as Marcel Siem, Martin Kaymer, and Yannik Paul, signaling a bright future for German golf.
Dominic Foos celebrated his first win on the Asian Tour with the SJM Macao Open, demonstrating consistency across rounds in a competitive international field.
Back on the PGA Tour stage, Sepp Straka won the Truist Championship at Quail Hollow Club, his second PGA title of the season, propelling him to second place in the FedExCup and into the world’s top 10 rankings. Stephan Jäger also shone with a T7 finish, marking his third top-10 of the season in the same event.
