Bernhard Langer’s Final Start at the Masters
Few moments shaped the German golf year 2025 as much as Bernhard Langer’s last appearance at the Masters in Augusta. After 41 appearances, two Green Jackets, and countless rounds, the 67-year-old bid farewell to the place that made him famous. The spectators rose, applause accompanied him down every fairway. His farewell round didn’t lead him into the weekend but ended in an emotional goodbye on the 18th green. Langer, accompanied by son Jason as his caddie, said goodbye to a place that shaped him and that he helped shape.

Those who thought Langer threw in the towel after the Masters quickly learned otherwise. Only months later at the WINSTONgolf Senior Open, he showed he remains competitive – and how. With 21 strokes under par, the 68-year-old set a new tournament record and claimed victory on home ground. Shortly after, Alex Cejka celebrated his first title in two years at the SAS Championship in the USA, defending his lead steadily and securing his place in the top 15 of the Schwab Cup rankings.
German Success Across Tours
Weeks later, the next generation took center stage. On the DP World Tour, Nicolai von Dellingshausen achieved his first major victory at the Austrian Alpine Open with precise play and a timely eagle. Ryder-up Marcel Schneider and strong final rounds from Marcel Siem made it one of the most successful weekends for German golf on the European Tour with three Germans in the top five. Laura Fünfstück won her first title after 115 starts at the PIF London Championship, fighting back from a tough start to clinch birdie on the last hole. Young amateur Tim Wiedemeyer impressed at the BMW International Open with a 66 on Friday, placing in the top 15 alongside established players. Dominic Foos celebrated his first win on the Asian Tour at the SJM Macao Open, while Sepp Straka triumphed on the PGA Tour at the Truist Championship, rising to second in the FedEx Cup and entering the world top ten for the first time. Stephan Jäger added a top-10 finish, marking his third this season.
