Few moments shaped the German golf year 2025 like Bernhard Langer’s last appearance at The Masters in Augusta. After 41 appearances, two Green Jackets, and countless rounds, the 67-year-old bid farewell to the place that made him famous. The spectators rose, applause accompanied him across every fairway. Though his final round didn’t see him through to the weekend, it ended with an emotional farewell on the 18th green. Langer, caddied by his son Jason, said goodbye to a venue that shaped him and to which he contributed his legacy.
German Golfers Make Their Mark in 2025
Langer was far from finished on the golf course. Just months later, he set a new tournament record with 21 under par to win the WINSTONgolf Senior Open on home soil. Shortly after, Alex Cejka celebrated his first title in two years at the SAS Championship in the USA, showcasing consistency and securing a top 15 spot in the Schwab Cup rankings.
The next generation emerged when Nicolai von Dellingshausen claimed his first major win at the Austrian Alpine Open on the DP World Tour. With precise play and a crucial eagle, he secured his debut victory. Marcel Schneider and Marcel Siem also shone, with three Germans finishing among the top five— a rare sight on the European Tour.
Laura Fünfstück earned her first title after over 100 tournament starts at the PIF London Championship, overcoming a slow start in the final with clutch birdies to secure victory. Olivia Cowan supported the German presence with a tied fourth place.
Amateur Tim Wiedemeyer made waves at the BMW International Open in Munich, shooting a 66 on Friday to move into the top 15, finishing just behind established stars like Marcel Siem and Martin Kaymer, signaling a bright future for German golf youth.
Dominic Foos triumphed on the Asian Tour, winning the SJM Macao Open with steady play against an international field.
Success on the PGA Tour and Beyond
Sepp Straka won the Truist Championship at Quail Hollow Club, claiming his first signature event and second PGA title of the season. This victory elevated him to second place in the FedExCup and into the top 10 of the world rankings. Stephan Jäger also impressed, finishing T7 bogey-free with strong front nine birdies and a long eagle putt, marking his third top-10 finish of the season.
