Matti Schmid starts 2026 as the top German on the golf world rankings. Behind him follow Stephan Jäger and Nicolai Von Dellingshausen.
Only One German in the Top 100
As the 2026 golf season begins, we look at the positions of German players entering the year. Matti Schmid is the best German at rank 92 and the only German player in the top 100. Stephan Jäger, who was ranked 52 at the start of last year, lost points and now lies at 114.
The best German not competing on the PGA Tour is Nicolai Von Dellingshausen at rank 193. Marcel Siem gained positions after his T14 result at the Dubai Invitational in the third weekend of January, now ranked 257. Also in the top 300 are Marcel Schneider at 243 and Thomas Rosenmüller at 276.
Sepp Straka in the Top 15
The best-ranked player from the German-speaking area at the start of 2026 is still Sepp Straka, positioned 12th after taking it relatively easy at the end of last year due to family issues. Based on his results from last year, Straka is ready to challenge the top 10 of the world rankings again in the coming year.
Scottie Scheffler Maintains Clear Lead
The undisputed world number one is still Scottie Scheffler, leading by more than 200 points ahead of second-placed Rory McIlroy. The top 5 is rounded out by Englishman Tommy Fleetwood and Americans Xander Schauffele and Russell Henley.
