Matti Schmid begins 2026 as the highest-ranked German golfer in the world rankings, ahead of Stephan Jäger and Nicolai Von Dellingshausen.
Only One German in the Top 100
At the start of the 2026 golf season, we take a look at the rankings of German players as they enter the year. Matti Schmid is the top German at rank 92 and the only German player within the top 100. Stephan Jäger, who was ranked 52 at the start of last year, lost points and now stands at rank 114.
The best German not playing on the PGA Tour is Nicolai Von Dellingshausen at rank 193. Marcel Siem improved his position after a T14 finish at the Dubai Invitational in the third weekend of January, now ranking 257. Marcel Schneider and Thomas Rosenmüller are also within the top 300, at ranks 243 and 276 respectively.
Sepp Straka Among Top 15
Sepp Straka remains the highest-ranked player from the German-speaking region at the start of 2026, positioned at 12. Despite taking it easy due to family matters at the end of last year, he is ready to challenge the top 10 again in the upcoming year based on his previous results.
Scottie Scheffler Dominates the Rankings
The undisputed number one in the world remains Scottie Scheffler, holding a lead of over 200 points ahead of second-placed Rory McIlroy. The top five is completed by England’s Tommy Fleetwood and Americans Xander Schauffele and Russell Henley.
