Matti Schmid begins 2026 as the highest-ranked German in the golf world rankings, followed by Stephan Jäger and Nicolai Von Dellingshausen.
Only One German in the Top 100
As the 2026 golf season starts, we look at the rankings of German players. Matti Schmid is the highest-ranked German at 92nd, also the only German player in the top 100. Stephan Jäger has lost points compared to last year, dropping from 52nd to 114th.
The best German not playing on the PGA Tour is Nicolai Von Dellingshausen at 193rd. Marcel Siem improved his ranking to 257th after a T14 finish at the Dubai Invitational in mid-January. Marcel Schneider (243rd) and Thomas Rosenmüller (276th) also remain in the top 300.
Sepp Straka in the Top 15
The highest-ranked player from the German-speaking region is Sepp Straka, who is 12th at the start of 2026. After a quiet period at the year’s end due to family issues, Straka is ready to challenge for a top 10 spot in the world rankings again.
Scottie Scheffler Dominates the Rankings
Scottie Scheffler remains the undisputed world number one with a lead of over 200 points ahead of Rory McIlroy. The top five is rounded out by England’s Tommy Fleetwood and Americans Xander Schauffele and Russell Henley.
