Golf World Ranking: Matti Schmid Leads as Best German in 2026

Matti Schmid starts 2026 as the top German on the Golf World Ranking, followed by Stephan Jäger and Nicolai Von Dellingshausen.

Only One German in the Top 100

As the 2026 golf season begins, we look at the rankings of German players going into the year. The best German is Matti Schmid at 92nd place, and he is also the only German player within the Top 100. Stephan Jäger, who was ranked 52nd at the start of last year, lost points and is now ranked 114th.

The highest-ranked German not playing on the PGA Tour is Nicolai Von Dellingshausen at 193rd place. Marcel Siem improved his standing after a T14 result at the Dubai Invitational in the third weekend of January, now ranked 257th. Also within the Top 300 are Marcel Schneider at 243rd and Thomas Rosenmüller at 276th.

Sepp Straka Among the Top 15

By far the highest-ranked player from the German-speaking region at the beginning of 2026 is Sepp Straka. He is ranked 12th after taking it easy late last year due to family issues. Thanks to his results from the previous year, Straka is now poised to once again challenge the Top 10 in the World Ranking in the coming year.

Scottie Scheffler Clearly Number One

The undisputed world number one remains Scottie Scheffler. With more than 200 points ahead of second-ranked Rory McIlroy, Scheffler leads comfortably. The Top 5 is rounded out by England’s Tommy Fleetwood and Americans Xander Schauffele and Russell Henley.
