The 2026 season offers golf fans a variety of important tournaments. From the prestigious men’s and women’s majors to the Solheim Cup and key events in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, the tournament calendar is packed.
Men’s Majors: Tradition, Prestige, and Iconic Venues
The traditional start of the men’s major season is the legendary Masters from April 9-12 at Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia, USA. Rory McIlroy, having achieved a career Grand Slam in 2025 as the sixth player and first European with a Masters win, returns as the defending champion. The PGA Championship follows from May 4-17 at Aronimink Golf Club in Pennsylvania. Summer kicks off with the US Open from June 18-21 at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in New York, where J.J. Spaun won in 2025. The men’s major season concludes with The Open Championship from July 16-19 at Royal Birkdale Golf Club in Southport, England. Scottie Scheffler secured his second major title last season at The Open after winning the PGA Championship.
Women’s Majors and the Solheim Cup
In women’s golf, highlights continue throughout 2026. The Chevron Championship in Texas opens the majors from April 23-26. About six weeks later, the US Women’s Open presented by Ally takes place from June 4-7 at Riviera Country Club in California. Swedish golfer Maja Stark claimed her first major and first European title at the US Women’s Open in 2025. From June 25-28, the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship will be held at Hazeltine National Golf Club in Minnesota. July sees the Amundi Evian Championship at Evian Resort Golf Club in France from July 9-12, followed by the AIG Women’s Open from July 30-August 2 at Royal Lytham & St Annes Golf Club, England. A special highlight is the 2026 Solheim Cup, the premier women’s team event held every two years, taking place September 11-13 at Bernards Golf in Den Bosch, Netherlands. Team Europe includes players like Anne Van Dam, Anna Nordqvist, Caroline Hedwall, and Mel Reid.
Four Key Tournaments in the German-Speaking Region
Golf fans in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland can look forward to high-profile tournaments. On the DP World Tour, the Austrian Alpine Open runs from May 28-31 at Golfclub Kitzbühel Schwarzsee-Reith. Another highlight is the BMW International Open from July 2-5 at Golfclub München Eichenried, featuring 17 German-speaking players in 2025. On the Ladies European Tour, the Amundi German Masters is scheduled May 14-17 at the Green Eagle Golf Courses near Hamburg, promising excitement following five top-20 finishes by German players in 2025. The VP Bank Swiss Ladies Open will take place from August 13-15 at Migros Golfpark Holzhäusern in Switzerland.
