Team Scottie Scheffler narrowly defeated Team Rory McIlroy in a playoff at the Golf Channel Games in Florida.
In a thrilling finish at the Trump National Golf Club in Florida, Team Scottie Scheffler edged out Team Rory McIlroy by mere inches to win the Golf Channel Games. The event, blending competitive golf with entertainment, featured five unique challenges, a star-studded lineup, and a playoff finale worthy of a movie script.
Star-studded teams and unique format
Led by World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, Team Scheffler included Sam Burns, Keegan Bradley, and Luke Clanton. Team McIlroy, captained by Rory McIlroy, featured Haotong Li, Shane Lowry, and Luke Donald. Unlike traditional tournaments, the competition consisted of five creative challenges testing various aspects of the game. While entertainment was the focus, the level of play remained top-tier.
Early lead for Team Scheffler
Team Scheffler took an early 2–0 lead by winning the timed long-drive and short-game challenges. Team McIlroy bounced back in the third challenge, a speed-based hole completion with players spread across the fairway. Luke Clanton impressed with a 191 mph drive that energized the crowd.

Playoff drama seals the win
In the fourth challenge, a 14-club Par 3 test requiring one shot with each club, Team Scheffler regained the lead at 3–1. The final challenge, a captain’s showdown worth two points, saw McIlroy defeat Scheffler to force a playoff.
The deciding challenge was a “Nearest to the Pin” contest. Both captains delivered stellar shots, but Scheffler’s ball landed just a few centimeters closer, securing the narrowest of victories for his team.
