Cobra’s New King Tec Mini Driver: Between Driver and Fairway Wood

With the new King Tec Mini Driver, Cobra offers a versatile tool for precise tee shots and increased control in the bag.

A traditional driver isn’t the perfect choice for all players; sometimes it’s too long, too error-prone, or offers too little control. This is exactly where Cobra’s new King Tec Mini Driver comes in. The clubhead volume is 303 cc, and with a shaft length of 43.75 inches, it is closer to a fairway wood than the traditional 460 cc driver. According to Cobra, this leads to more consistency and a tighter dispersion pattern off the tee and the fairway.

Cobra King Tec Mini Driver: Compact, Versatile, Adjustable

The King Tec Mini Driver is designed for those prioritizing precision over pure distance off the tee. The smaller clubhead shape is said to be easier to align while still providing a familiar feel at address. For players wavering between a 3-wood and a driver, this offers a promising middle ground. Compatibility with the FutureFit33 shaft system provides additional flexibility in setup.

Technology for Variable Needs

Two weights – one 12 grams, one 2 grams – can be placed in the front or back. Depending on their position, the center of gravity can be adjusted: front weighting offers more speed and less spin, while rear weighting increases stability and forgiveness. This allows for tailoring ball flight to course conditions or personal preference. Technically, the King Tec Mini Driver includes a titanium body, carbon crown, and PWRSHELL H.O.T. Face, ensuring stability, controlled launch angles, and consistent ball speed even on off-center strikes. The face is designed to minimize distance loss on mishits.

FUTUREFIT33: Rethinking Loft and Lie Adjustment

At the heart of the mini driver is the new FUTUREFIT33 hosel, allowing 33 different loft and lie settings adjusted independently with ease. Thanks to SMARTPAD technology, the clubface remains neutral in all positions. This makes fitting highly flexible for both tour players and custom fitting.

Customization on Demand

The King Tec Mini Driver will be available starting January 16, 2026. Cobra delivers the model standard with an MCA Kai’li Blue 60 shaft in Regular or Stiff. For more tailored adjustments, custom fitting options are available. The price is 500 euros. Custom-made models are manufactured in Helsingborg, Sweden, according to the company.
