End-of-Year Roundup: Will Bennett Scheffler Complete the Slam?

Koepka’s suspension, Pereira’s retirement, McIlroy’s club list, Müller’s swing tips, and Robin Williams on golf. The Back Nine of the year.

Scottie Scheffler is just one major away from completing the career Grand Slam. With wins at the Masters, PGA Championship, and Open Championship, only the U.S. Open remains. The 126th edition at Shinnecock Hills in June could be his moment. Given his dominance on the PGA Tour, many believe it’s only a matter of time before he joins the elite group of Grand Slam winners.

But with that almost a given, Golf Digest took a humorous turn: when will Bennett Scheffler, Scottie’s toddler son, complete the Slam? The little one has already witnessed two major wins and made a memorable appearance at Royal Portrush. Born shortly after the 2024 Masters, he technically missed that and one other major. But with Dad favored to win all four majors in 2026, Bennett’s “spectator Slam” might be just around the corner.

Koepka’s Suspension and LIV Departures

Brooks Koepka may return to the PGA Tour in August 2026, once his one-year suspension post-LIV expires—if he reapplies for membership. In the meantime, Taylor “Asterisk” Gooch will captain Smash GC. Meanwhile, Mito Pereira has announced his retirement from professional golf. The 30-year-old Chilean, formerly of Torque GC, plans to focus on family life back home.

Sergio Garcia, on the other hand, has extended his LIV Golf contract and reactivated Luis Masaveu. His Fireballs GC now features an all-Spanish lineup including Jose Ballester and David Puig.

McIlroy’s 18 Club Memberships

Rory McIlroy, a five-time major winner, holds memberships at 18 golf clubs worldwide. From his home club Holywood GC to prestigious names like The Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews and the ultra-exclusive Seminole GC—where he also covers his father Gerry’s dues—McIlroy’s global golf footprint is impressive.
