Yannik Paul misses DP World Tour Q School cut by one stroke

Yannik Paul narrowly misses the cut at DP World Tour Q School by one shot. Two German players advance to the final rounds.

The first four rounds of the DP World Tour Q School Final Stage in Spain are complete, and for several German-speaking players, the dream of securing a tour card has ended. Only the top 60 players made the cut to continue into the final two rounds at Infinitum Resort in Tarragona. Among those missing out is Yannik Paul, whose journey from Ryder Cup hopeful to losing his full tour card has drawn international attention. After narrowly missing out on automatic qualification, Paul fell just one stroke short of the cut. A disappointing 76 in the third round, featuring just one birdie and five dropped shots, proved costly. His final-round 69 wasn’t enough to recover.

Paul wasn’t the only one to fall short. Austrian Lukas Nemecz matched Paul’s score, despite a run of four consecutive birdies. Longtime DP World Tour player Max Kieffer also failed to make the cut, along with young hopefuls Anton Albers, Michael Hirmer, Jan Schneider, and 21-year-old Carl Siemens. Nick Bachem finished at the bottom of the leaderboard at 20-over-par.

DP World Tour Q School: De Bruyn and Katich advance

There was better news for Jannik de Bruyn and Philipp Katich. De Bruyn, despite some errors, recorded between three and six birdies per round and comfortably made the cut. He remains within striking distance of the top 20, just three shots back. Katich, one stroke behind De Bruyn, also kept his chances alive with two eagles over the last two days.

England’s Eddie Pepperell is also in contention for a tour card, sitting T22 despite a double bogey in round four. South African Zander Lombard leads the field by six shots heading into the final rounds.
