Yannik Paul narrowly misses DP World Tour Q School cut

Yannik Paul misses the DP World Tour Q School cut by one shot. Two other German players advance to the final rounds.

The first four rounds of the Q School Final in Spain have concluded, and for several German-speaking players, the fight for a DP World Tour card is already over. Only the top 60 players made the cut to continue into the final two rounds at Infinitum Resort in Tarragona. Among those missing out is Yannik Paul. Once a Ryder Cup hopeful, Paul’s recent struggles have drawn international attention. After narrowly missing out on a full Tour card earlier this season, he fell short of the Q School cut by a single stroke. A costly 76 on Sunday, featuring just one birdie and five dropped shots, left him too far behind despite a mixed 69 on Monday.

Paul wasn’t the only one to fall short. Austrian Lukas Nemecz matched Paul’s total, and even a run of four consecutive birdies couldn’t save his campaign. Max Kieffer, a long-standing DP World Tour regular, also failed to make the cut and is left without playing rights. Young prospects such as Anton Albers, Michael Hirmer, Jan Schneider, and 21-year-old Carl Siemens also missed out. Nick Bachem finished at the bottom of the leaderboard at 20-over-par.

DP World Tour Q School: De Bruyn and Katich advance

There was better news for Jannik de Bruyn and Philipp Katich. De Bruyn, despite some errors, carded between three and six birdies each day and comfortably made the cut at the marathon event. He remains just three shots outside the top 20 and within striking distance of a Tour card. Katich, one stroke behind De Bruyn, also has a realistic chance, thanks to two eagles over the last two rounds.

England’s Eddie Pepperell is also in contention for a Tour card. Despite a double bogey in round four, he sits tied for 22nd. South African Zander Lombard leads the field by six strokes heading into the final rounds.
