DP World Tour Player Suspended for 3 Months Due to Doping Violation

Gavin Green has been retrospectively suspended by the DP World Tour for three months following a doping violation at the end of last year.

The DP World Tour announced that Malaysian golfer Gavin Green was suspended for three months due to a doping violation detected during an end-of-season test in 2025.

Banned Herbal Supplement Found

According to the European Tour Group, a prohibited substance was found in Gavin Green’s system, which he had ingested through a herbal supplement as part of medical treatment. The Tour stated that Green fully cooperated with the DP World Tour and did not intentionally take the substance. However, under the Tour’s anti-doping regulations, the violation necessitated the suspension.

Gavin Green Receives Retrospective Ban

Green’s retrospective three-month suspension began on December 5, 2025, making him eligible to compete again starting with the DP World Tour’s Joburg Open on March 5, 2026. Additionally, he was disqualified retrospectively from the 2025 Danish Golf Championship, where the doping test had been conducted.

The European Tour Group announced it would not comment further on the suspension and confirmed that Green accepted the ban.

First Malaysian to Win Asian Tour Order of Merit

After several successful years as an amateur in Asia, Green turned professional in 2015 and achieved notable results. His greatest career successes came in 2017 on the Asian Tour when he won the Order of Merit, becoming the first Malaysian ever to do so. On the DP World Tour, he has secured three runner-up finishes and two third-place finishes in his career so far.
